Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar feels that whilst a Milan derby in the quarterfinals of the Champions League would be nice, a semifinal would be an even greater occasion.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Amazon Prime Video, via FCInter1908, the Treble-winning Brazilian gave his thoughts on the possibility of the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri meeting in the knockout stages of Europe’s top club competition.

Inter and Milan are both in the last eight of the Champions League, and many have begun to dream of the possibility of a derby meeting between the two in the competition.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have already met on three occasions this season, with the former having won the two most recent meetings in the Supercoppa Italiana and Serie A after the latter had won the first league meeting.

The pair may not have played their final derby of the season yet, however, depending on how the draw in the Champions League goes.

Regarding the possibility of the two teams meeting this season, Cesar said that “It would be great to see in the quarterfinals, but it would be even more so if they met in the semifinals.”
