Nothing should be taken for granted for Inter in their Champions League quarterfinal tie against Benfica, but at the same time the fact that it is a massive opportunity for them must not be hidden.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInter1908, who argue that the Nerazzurri will be all but obliged to take advantage of having avoided some of the competition’s real “heavy hitters.”

There is a temptation to look at a team like Benfica as being just as tough and challenging of a draw as the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid, or Bayern Munich for the next round of the Champions League.

None other than City manager Pep Guardiola described the prospect of facing the Portuguese league-leaders, who have been one of the form teams in Europe this season, as being like “a trip to the dentist.”

However, being a tough tie does not mean that the Portuguese team should be seen as a bridge too far for Inter, in the view of Italian media.

Rather, the Corriere della Sera contend, Inter must accept this tie as a gift, and not pass it up.
