Benfica coach Roger Schmidt feels that whilst Inter are a very strong team, neither side will be favourites in the upcoming Champions League quarterfinal tie.

Speaking in a press conference after his side were drawn against the Nerazzurri for the next round, as reported by FCInterNews, the German tactician gave his thoughts on what the next round could have in store for his team and for Inter.

Inter have avoided teams like Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid in the next round of the Champions League, and in truth Benfica could be saying the same thing.

However, both have already proved that they belong to be at this stage of the competition with what they’ve already done to get out of difficult groups and then win their round of sixteen ties.

Former Red Bull Salzburg, Bayer Leverkusen, and PSV coach Schmidt is expecting a tough tie against the Nerazzurri, but he doesn’t feel that his team are underdogs in the least.

“There are no favourites.,” the coach said.

“We know what we’re coming up against, we’re facing a great team,” he went on.

“Inter have many individual top players as well as experience.”

“Their players will be at the top level,” he continued. “And we also have to be at the top level.”

“We’ve already played at an exceptional level in Europe, it will be a great match.”
