Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi: “Lukaku & Lautaro Starters With Lots Of Confidence”
Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that strikers Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have plenty of confidence as they head into this evening’s Serie A match against Juventus.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of the match, via FCInterNews, the coach also declined to the words of his Bianconeri counterpart Max Allegri who suggested that based on the pitch his team are second in the table.
Lukaku starts this evening, with the Belgian favoured over the likes of Edin Dzeko as well as Joaquin Correa to lead the line from the start alongside Martinez.
The partnership between the two strikers has yet to really take off as it had in the Belgian’s first two seasons at the club, but from the coach’s perspective, the confidence is there for the pair to finally start playing together at a very high level.
Of his selection decision in attack, Inzaghi noted that “We as coaches have to make these choices every match.”
“He’s doing well,” the coach said of Lukaku, “he’s prepared well in training just as his teammates have as well.”
“He and Lautaro will start with a lot of confidence, then the substitutes like Dzeko can give us a boost when the match is already underway,” he added.
Of the absence of Angel Di Maria from the Bianconeri’s starting eleven, Inzaghi said that “I’m just focused on my team.”
“Juve still have as many weapons as we do in attack, we’ve played a lot of matches recently and we have to do our best.”
And of the words of his Juventus counterpart Allegri, who has emphasized that without the fifteen-point deduction handed to them, the Bianconeri would be much higher in the table, Inzaghi said that “I have great respect for Max, he’s a coach who needs no introduction.”
“I just think about what’s on the pitch, and then I leave the matters off of it to people who are more qualified than I am,” he added.
