Inter defender Milan Skriniar has been called up to the Slovakian national team for the EURO 2024 qualifiers during the international break despite a back injury.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 28-year-old is aiming to be fit for the national team’s qualifying clash with Bosnian and Herzgovina.
Skriniar was out of Inter’s squad for yesterday evening’s Serie A match against Juventus with a back problem, and the former Sampdoria defender is continuing to recover from the issue.
However, the player is hoping that he will be able to get back to fitness in time for the second of his national team’s two EURO 2024 qualifiers during the international break.
Slovakia’s first match of the break is against Luxembourg on Thursday, and it is not likely that Skriniar will be fit in time to play a part in that match.
However, the Inter defender could be ready for the second qualifier against Bosnia and Herzgovina over the weekend.
