Inter wingback Federico Dimarco could pull out of the Italian national team’s squad for the international break with an abdominal injury.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that there is a good chance of the 25-year-old not being called up for the Azzurri due to the injury that he went off with during yesterday evening’s Serie A match against Juventus.

Dimarco had to come off the pitch as a substitute during the second half of yesterday evening’s Derby d’Italia loss to Juventus, exiting for Danilo D’Ambrosio.

The 25-year-old was in some evident discomfort as he came off, although it hadn’t initially been clear if it was a serious injury or just a bit of muscular fatigue.

According to Sky, the problem looks to have been identified as an abdominal strain.

Dimarco had been called up for the Italian national team for their EURO 2024 qualifiers during the international break, but there now looks to be a good available that he will instead stay behind and recover from his injury.
