Inter wingback Federico Dimarco suffered an abdominal strain during the second half of the Nerazzurri’s Serie A match against Juventus yesterday evening, and may miss out on international duty with the Italian national team.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report on the reason for the 25-year-old having to leave the pitch as a substitute and note that he may not be a part of the Azzurri squad during the international breal.

Dimarco started yesterday evening’s match against Juventus, with there being little other option given that he was the only specialist left-wingback available in the Nerazzurri’s squad due to an injury to Robin Gosens.

However, the 25-year-old was not necessarily fully fit, and during the second half he was forced off with a potential injury as he appeared to be in some discomfort, and Danilo D’Ambrosio took his place.

According to the Gazzetta, the issue was an abdominal strain, and it could be serious enough that Dimarco has to stay behind and recover despite having been included in Italy’s squad for EURO 2024 qualifiers during the international break.
