Italian media have argued that Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella looked like the one player who had anything close to the spark needed to break down Juventus yesterday evening.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, give the former Cagliari man a rating of 6/10 for his performance, higher than any of his teammates after the 0-1 loss to the Bianconeri.

Barella started the match well, with a couple efforts on goal, and throughout the first half looked to be the Nerazzurri player most determined to make something happen.

It still wasn’t a vintage performance from the 26-year-old who made some technical errors and couldn’t quite find his range in the final third, but for the Corriere he at least deserves credit for his energy.

Meanwhile, the newspaper give strikers Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku scores of just 4.5/10 for their ineffective displays, and wingback Denzel Dumfries a grade of 4/10 for his performance on both sides of the ball.
