Inter striker Lautaro Martinez was the biggest disappointment in an overall Nerazzurri performance that was far from the necessary level against Juventus yesterday evening.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who gave the 25-year-old a score of just 4.5/10 in the player ratings for the 0-1 Nerazzurri loss at the San Siro.

Inter had no shortage of ball possession with which to try and break down the Juventus defense, but no cutting edge.

For the Gazzetta, the biggest culprit in this respect was Martinez, who was well-marshalled by Bianconeri defenders Federico Gatti and Bremer who looked to be having an easy night keeping the Argentine quiet.

Considering Martinez’s emerging status as a leader and key player in this Inter team, a performance such as last night’s was not acceptable in the view of the Gazzetta.

Meanwhile, the other player to get a failing 4.5/10 grade from the Gazzetta for their performance was Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries.

Aside from the Dutchman’s questionable defensive positioning on the Bianconeri’s goal, the newspaper criticized an overall technically poor performance on both sides of the ball from him.
