Italian media have argued that Inter were let down by the performances from their strikers in yesterday evening’s Serie A loss to Juventus.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, criticize all of Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, and Edin Dzeko for their failure to break down the Bianconeri defense, calling them “shadows of themselves.”

Inter were not without possession of the ball against Juventus, as the Bianconeri sat off them and virtually dared the Nerazzurri to try and break down their defensive shape.

Juventus defenders Federico Gatti, Bremer, and Danilo were up against Lukaku and Martinez from the first minute, whilst Dzeko came on to replace the Belgian during the second half.

Regardless of which Inter striker it was trying to get the better of his Juventus opposite number, however, they got little change all night.

It looked like an ordinary day at the office for the Bianconeri backline, hardly befitting the reputations and undoubted quality of the Inter strikers who they were up against.
