Inter wingback Federico Dimarco will not be in the Italian national team during the international break, as he has pulled out with an injury.

This is confirmed by the Italian FA, via FCInterNews, who report that the 25-year-old will stay behind and recover from an abdominal problem, whilst West Ham United leftback Emerson Palmieri will take his place for the EURO 2024 qualifiers against England and Malta.

Dimarco had initially been called up by Azzurri coach Roberto Mancini for the national team squad for the two upcoming EURO 2024 qualifiers.

However, the Nerazzurri wingback suffered an abdominal injury during the team’s Serie A match against Juventus yesterday evening, having to be substituted off for Danilo D’Ambrosio during the second half.

Dimarco had the injury assessed by the team’s medical staff today.

The medical tests revealed that the 25-year-old’s abdominal injury will be serious enough to rule him out of the two EURO 2024 qualifiers.
