Inter Milan Defender Milan Skriniar Targeting Injury Return In Champions League Quarterfinal First Leg Vs Benfica, Italian Media Report

Inter defender Milan Skriniar is aiming to return from his injury in the team’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg match against Benfica next month.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 28-year-old’s back injury has been persistent, and that he is now looking at the match in Lisbon on April 11 as a prospective return date.

Skriniar has missed all of Inter’s last four matches in Serie A, whilst the Slovakian was restricted to a cameo appearance from the bench in the second half of the Champions League match against Porto last week, which seemingly affected his fitness.

The former Sampdoria defender is also set to return to Milan for the international break despite having been called up by Slovakia, as his back injury will mean that he can play no part in their two EURO 2024 qualifiers.

As far as the matches that Inter have on the way after the break, it is not certain when exactly Skriniar will be able to be back in action, as his injury has proved to be a lingering one.

However, according to the Gazzetta, the first leg of the Champions league quarterfinal tie against Benfica at the Estadio da Luz is being looked at as the likely target.
