Inter defender Milan Skriniar has issued an update in regards to the back injury that he has been suffering from.

Speaking from the Slovakian national team training camp, via FCInterNews, the 28-year-old explained that the issue is causing him pain from his back all the way through to his leg, and that he will return to Milan to recover rather than playing with Slovakia during the break.

Skriniar has only managed to play for a few minutes during the month of March, coming on as a substitute during the second half of Inter’s Champions League match against Porto last week.

In the Nerazzurri’s last four Serie A matches, the Slovakian has been out with an injury.

This injury is also set to rule Skriniar out of participation in either of his national team’s two EURO 2024 qualifiers during the break.

Whilst it is not certain what the timeline for recovery is from here, the player himself has updated that it is an issue that is causing him no small discomfort at the moment.

“I’m not feeling great,” Skriniar admitted.

“I’m having problems with my back, I’m feeling pain reaching all the way down to my leg,” he continued.

“Unfortunately I won’t be able to play in these two matches for the national team,” Skriniar explained, “I just came here to say goodbye to the team.”

As for what’s next, the 28-year-old updated that “I’ll return to Milan [today] and then consult on what the next course of action will be as far as therapy so that I can hopefully return to full fitness as soon as possible.”
