Inter have made Tigre striker Mateo Retegui and Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram their main attacking targets for the summer, with Romelu Lukaku likely to return to Chelsea.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that unless the Belgian’s performances are to improve significantly in the remaining matches of the season his loan spell will not be extended, and the Nerazzurri are prepared to sign a replacement.
Despite significant expectations surrounding Lukaku when he was brought back from Chelsea last summer, injuries and inconsistent form have prevented the 29-year-old from making an impact.
Accordingly, Mediaset, Inter are starting to plan to move on from the Belgian.
Tigre striker Retegui is a major target for the Nerazzurri, and would require an outlay of around €20-25 million.
Meanwhile, Thuram remains a major target for Inter particularly given his availability on a free transfer, and this would only be more the case if Lukaku does not stay past the end of the season.
