Inter have made initial contacts with Empoli and the representatives of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as a possible replacement if Andre Onana is to leave during the summer transfer window.

This according to Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi, who reported in a video on his YouTube channel that the Nerazzurri have begun laying the groundwork to sign the 26-year-old in the event that Onana is sold to a Premier League club, and that the price tag would be around €10 million.

Onana has become the subject of some transfer interest from big clubs in the Premier League, and whilst this has yet to materialize in the form of concrete offers, the Nerazzurri do not want to be caught unprepared.

Accordingly, Barzaghi reports, Empoli keeper Vicario is the man who Inter have in mind in case they find themselves needing to replace Onana during the summer transfer window.

“There could be a bidding war among English teams for Onana,” the journalist explained, “particularly given that Manchester United and Tottenham are also looking for a reliable goalkeeper for the future.”

“This is a serious possibility that there have already been some exploratory contacts with Empoli’s number one Vicario, who has proven to be a top goalkeeper in recent seasons,” he continued.

“He’s valued at around €10 million, and there have been some initial contacts with his agent,” Barzaghi said of the Nerazzurri’s approach.

He also noted that “Their relationship with Empoli has always been excellent.”
