Inter defender Milan Skriniar could be fit for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A match against Fiorentina after the international break despite “alarmist” statements about the player’s fitness from his national team coach.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that an appearance against La Viola at the start of next month cannot be ruled out for the 28-year-old.

Skriniar’s national team coach Francesco Calzona suggested that the back injury that the Inter defender is currently dealing with could be a serious one.

However, Tuttosport reports, this could simply be the usual back-and-forth between club and international team coaching and medical staff regarding player fitness.

According to the newspaper, the prognosis at Inter remains that Skriniar should be able to return not long after the international break.

This could even be in the very first match after the break, a Serie A match against Fiorentina, although that is far from guaranteed.
