Former Sion assistant coach Alessandro Recenti is not surprised to see Inter wingback Federico Dimarco thriving in the Nerazzurri first team as he has been doing.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the coach explained that from his experienced working with the Nerazzurri wingback when he was much younger, he always believed that Dimarco had the qualities needed both as a player and as a person to take the next steps.

Dimarco’s path to Inter’s first team was not exactly a straightforward one, as the wingback went out on a number of loan spells where he gradually proved himself at a higher and higher level.

Eventually, in the summer of 2021, Dimarco was given a chance in the Nerazzurri’s first team, and he hasn’t looked back, particularly this season.

As the player’s former coach from Sion Recenti has revealed, however, there were always signs that he was the kind of player who would be capable of playing at such a level.

Recenti explained that “I was always sure that he could make it at this level.”

“It took him a while, but he gradually proved his worth with Parma and Verona, and the experience abroad also helped him.”
