Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella hass left the Italian national team squad due to an injury.

This according to Italian news service ANSA, via FCInterNews, who report that both the 26-year-old Nerazzurri man as well as Juventus captain Leonardo Bonucci have returned to their club sides after withdrawing from the Azzurri squad.

Barella had been called up for Italy’s two EURO 2024 qualifiers during the break along with Nerazzurri teammates Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian, whilst Federico Dimarco and Alessandro Bastoni stayed behind due to Italy.

It now looks as though Barella will join Dimarco and Bastoni in Milan, however, as the former Cagliari midfielder has suffered an injury which caused him to exit the pitch during Italy’s 1-2 loss to Italy in a qualifying match yesterday.

It will remain to be seen what the extent of Barella’s injury is, and whether or not it will keep him out of any of Inter’s matches next month.
