Current Marseille and former Inter forward Alexis Sanchez has admitted that he felt very frustrated with a relative lack of playing time at the Nerazzurri last season.

Speaking to Chilean broadcaster TVN, via FCInterNews, the 34-year-old explained that he had felt like “a lion in a cage” and as though he was never given a proper chance to prove himself in his final season at Inter in particular.

Whilst Sanchez did play in plenty of matches for Inter last season, he was never a first-choice starter in attack.

Then, during the summer ahead of this season, the Chilean former Arsenal, Barcelona, and Udinese man made the move to Marseille, with it having been made clear that he was not a part of the plans at Inter for this season.

For his part, Sanchez felt a sense of frustration at how the season went for him at the Nerazzurri last campaign.

“I was calm at Inter, but did they give me the opportunity to prove myself?” the forward posed, “I said I would accept any criticism had they let me played and I’d done badly.”

“In that case they would have been right to criticize me, but not if they judged me but didn’t give me an opportunity to prove myself,” he added.

“I felt like a lion in a cage,” Sanchez admitted.
