Inter could look to sign young Empoli midfielder Tommaso Baldanzi to replace Joaquin Correa next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 20-year-old could be brought in to provide an option to link midfield in attack, something that’s been absent at times this season.

One of the main deficiencies that the Nerazzurri will be looking to address during the summer transfer window will be the lack of one-on-one dribbling ability in the squad at the moment.

Whilst there is no shortage of technical quality in Inter’s team, it has been widely observed that there are no players able to reliably unlock matches with a bit of invention on the dribble.

In theory, Correa is a player with these qualities, but the 28-year-old former Lazio and Sevilla man’s constant injuries and less-than-stellar form when fit have meant that he has not been reliable.

Accordingly, the Gazzetta report, the Nerazzurri are thinking of a bit of a revamp which would see Baldanzi signed as an attacking midfield option capable of playing behind two strikers.

The 20-year-old’s quality on the dribble would give a different dimension to Inter’s play in possession, and could allow coach Simone Inzaghi to switch more coherently to a 3-4-1-2 formation.

According to the Gazzetta, Inter are looking at the possibility of offering striker Martin Satriano, who is currently on loan at Empoli, as part of a cash-plus-player deal for Baldanzi.
