Inter are pushing to get things moving to potentially sign Tigre striker Mateo Retegui before it becomes impossible to do so due to competition from other European clubs.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are wary of the growing interest in Retegui’s signature from teams in Spain and England, and want to try and get ahead of the competition.

Retegui’s debut for the Italian national team, scoring a consolation goal for the Azzurri in  1-2 loss to England in a EURO 2024 qualifiers, has ensured that there are no European clubs not aware of the striker’s talent.

Accordingly, the player’s father Carlos Jose, who is also his agent, has been in talks with teams in Spain, where interest in signing Retegui is rising.

Inter have been tracking Retegui for some time, with Assistant Sporting Director Dario Baccin having become a fan of the striker during his scouting trips to South America.

According to Tuttosport, Baccin was at the Italy-England match, where he registered that Inter have a clear interest in signing Retegui with the player’s representatives.
