Inter striker Romelu Lukaku feels that there is no lingering bad feeling between himself and his AC Milan counterpart Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Speaking to Belgian media following his national team’s 3-0 win over Sweden, via FCInterNews, the 29-year-old suggested that he has total respect for the 41-year-old Swede despite a high-profile clash on the pitch during a Milan derby a couple of years ago.

Inter’s Lukaku and Milan’s Ibrahimovic were at the centre of an on-pitch altercation during a match between the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia during the 2020-21 season.

The Rossoneri striker ended up getting sent off for his part in the incident.

This has become something of an iconic Milan derby memory, and a symbol of how heated things can get between the two sets of players during the fixture.

However, for his part, Lukaku does not feel that it is something that he continues to have any ill feelings about, and he has total respect for Ibrahimovic.

“He’s a warrior, he’s continued to be a top player for a long time and he deserves respect,” the Inter striker said.

“Hats off to what he does at his age, I have no issues with him, only respect.”
