Inter should wrap up contract extension talks with defender Alessandro Bastoni in the next couple of months.

This according to SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla, who reported live on air via FCInter1908 that whilst talks with the 23-year-old are not as far along as those with Hakan Calhanoglu, the Nerazzurri will make sure they progress in a timely manner.

Whilst Bastoni’s contract runs until the end of June 2024, Inter will be extremely keen to make sure that a new deal is agreed well before then.

The situation with Milan Skriniar this season has certainly given the Nerazzurri a harsh lesson in the prospective consequences of allowing a player to go into the final season of their deal without an extension signed.

Accordingly, it has been widely reported that Inter are already in talks with Bastoni and his representatives regarding a new contract.

Pedulla expects that there is still some way to go in these negotiations, but that things should not drag on longer than a couple months.

Of Inter’s talks with Bastoni and his representatives, Pedulla said that “His contract expires at the same time as Calhanoglu’s but whereas with the Turk the talks are advanced, for him the situation is different.”

He elaborated that “The player’s made his requests, an everything should be clarified within the next sixty days at the latest.”
