Brighton and Hove Albion coach Roberto De Zerbi is preferred over Antonio Conte to replace Simone Inzaghi if the current coach were to be sacked at the end of the season.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that whilst Conte is on the Nerazzurri’s radar following his exit from Tottenham Hotspur, they are more interested in the Brighton coach as well as Bologna’s Thiago Motta.

Conte’s departure from Tottenham yesterday has meant that the rumour mill is now in full swing linking the 53-year-old with a number of possible positions.

A switch to Serie A looks like a very concrete possibility for Conte, and returns to either the Nerazzurri or to Juventus are among the possibilities widely linked for the coach, who has also taken charge of Chelsea and the Italian national team.

According to the Gazzetta, however, Conte would not be Nerazzurrri CEO Beppe Marotta’s first choice to replace Inzaghi were the former Lazio coach to be on his way.

Instead, the outlet suggests, Inter would prefer to target Brighton’s De Zerbi.
