The agent of Tigre striker Mateo Retegui has made clear that, despite transfer links to Inter and other big clubs, the player’s focus is only on doing the best for his current club.

The 23-year-old’s father and agent Carlos Retegui spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, where he answered questions regarding the striker’s future and stressed keeping concentration on his current task at hand.

Retegui has exploded into public view with his performances for Tigre and, over the past week, for the Italian national team in his first call-up for the Azzurri.

This has led to no shortage of transfer links to big European clubs, and Inter have been at the forefront of speculation regarding the player’s future.

According to numerous reports, the Nerazzurri have been keen to sign Retegui and have been in talks regarding a potential deal for him.

However, according to the striker’s agent and father, now is not the time for him to be distracted by transfer links.

“I’m very happy that Mateo is part of the national team, and I’m very grateful to Roberto Mancini, to the coaching staff, and to all the players who have done everything they can to make him feel welcome here,” he said of Retegui’s first experience with the Italian national team.

“Today his mind is totally focused on Tigre and on the Azzurri,” the striker’s agent added.

“He has to keep calm and have his feet on the ground, his only thought should be on learning and continuing to improve.”
