Inter defender Milan Skriniar is aiming to return from his back injury in time to play in the first leg of the team’s Champions League quarterfinal tie against Benifca.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 28-year-old could return in the league match against Salernitana prior to the Benfica clash.

Skriniar is yet to return to full training as he continues to work on his recovery program, but the aim is to have him back in action not too long after the team returns from the international break.

According to the Gazzetta, the real target for the Slovakian former Sampdoria defender is the Champions League tie against Benfica.

The ideal intention would be for Skriniar to be back in time to play in the Serie A match against Salernitana next week, so that he can start getting match experience ahead of the first leg of the Benfica tie.
