Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has been forced off with a muscle injury during the first half of the Turkish national team’s EURO 2024 qualifying match against Croatia.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 29-year-old felt pain around his groin area as he was substituted close to halftime of this evening’s match.

Calhanoglu, who is the captain of the Turkish national team, started in this evening’s EURO 2024 qualifying clash with Croatia.

Fenerbahce midfielder Ismail Yuksek took the place of the Inter player.

It is not yet clear how serious the injury is and whether or not Calhanoglu will miss any matches for Inter, who have a packed April scheduled for which Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will not want to be without a key player in the centre of the pitch for long.

However, more information should become available as the midfielder’s condition is assessed in the coming days.
