Inter could be looking to add more of an Argentine element to their squad in the summer transfer window, with both Roma’s Paulo Dybala and Tigre’s Mateo Retegui linked with moves.

This is the suggestion in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who suggest that the Nerazzurri could be looking to build on the presence of Argentine internationals Lautaro Martinez and Valentin Carboni already in the team.

Inter have long had a connection with Argentine footballers, including legendary former captain Javier Zanetti who is currently the club’s Vice-President, whilst players like Esteban Cambiasso, Walter Samuel, and Mauro Icardi have left their mark.

Currently, striker Lautaro Martinez has emerged as a central figure to the team on and off the pitch, and at 25 years of age looks poised to potentially become the captain when Samir Handanovic leaves.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Valentin Carboni is a player who Inter have no doubt will have an important role in the team moving forwards.

Joaquin Correa is another Argentine player in the squad, but the 28-year-old looks likely to leave in the summer.

However, Tuttosport suggests, the Nerazzurri could well replace the former Lazio man with Paulo Dybala, who had already looked close to joining last summer.

Meanwhile, striker Retegui is now a full-fledged Italian international, but given that the 23-year-old was raised in Argentina, would certainly maintain Inter’s connection with the country’s footballing heritage.
