Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni’s agent has made it perfectly clear that the player’s desire is to stay at the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to reporters following a meeting with the Nerazzurri, Bastoni’s agent Tulio Tinti confirmed that there is transfer interest in his client, but noted that the player is an Inter fan who would like to remain at the club.

Bastoni’s contract runs out at the end of June 2024, and this fact has led to some reports over the past few days that Inter could decide to try and sell the defender should they be unable to agree an extension, rather than risking his leaving on a free transfer.

However, at the same time, the Nerazzurri are reportedly pushing to agree a new deal.

Much will depend on what Bastoni’s intentions, as he will have to make up his own mind about his future.

The 23-year-old is widely reported to be a target for top sides in the Premier League in the event that he is available in the summer transfer window.

Bastoni’s Agent Sets The Record Straight

As reported by FCInterNews, Bastoni’s agent was asked whether there was interest in his signature, and he replied: “Absolutely, but he’s an Inter fan and he wants to stay at Inter.”

Regarding the status of the contract talks with Inter, Tinti added: “These are the initial meetings, we’re discussing it, there’ll be time to talk over the next few weeks.

“He’s always been an Inter fan. We’re discussing it.”

And when asked if this means that Nerazzurri fans can be calm about the situation, the defender’s agent was perfectly clear, responding: “Why would they have any reason to be nervous? It’s you [meaning the media] who spread these rumours, not me or Bastoni.”

Bastoni joined Inter from Atalanta in the summer of 2017, and made his debut for the Nerazzurri first team in the 2019-20 season under Antonio Conte following loan spells with La Dea and Parma.

The 23-year-old has so far made 148 appearances in an Inter shirt, whilst he has also become a regular in the Italian national team with seventeen caps to date.
