Atalanta defender Merih Demiral is Inter’s top target to replace Milan Skriniar this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri prefer the 25-year-old Turkish international over Red Bull Salzburg’s Oumar Solet as the designated heir to Skriniar.

Demiral had already been linked with Inter as a possible replacement for Skriniar, during the January transfer window.

However, Skriniar stayed at Inter as the Nerazzurri failed to agree a deal with Paris Saint-Germain, and so accordingly Demiral also stayed put at his current club.

However, the Gazzetta reports, this hardly means that Inter have lost their interest in the former Juventus and Sassuolo man.

Skriniar will certainly have to be replaced in the summer, and according to the newspaper, Demiral is still very much on the Nerazzurri’s radar for this purpose.

Solet is also a major target and a number of profiles are being looked at, but Demiral is currently top of the list.
