Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has no doubts about wanting to stay and extend his contract with the Nerazzurri.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that all signs point towards a new deal for the 23-year-old, who is extremely keen to stay.

Inter met with Bastoni’s agent Tulio Tinti yesterday to move contract extension talks along.

Whilst there is still some distance to be made up between the parties in negotiations, the Corriere report that the main theme of the talks was that the player’s clear intention is to stay and sign a new deal.

Bastoni has been widely reported to be a target for top sides in the Premier League should he be available in the summer, whilst he has also been linked with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the past.

In any event, Inter do not want to let the 23-year-old go into the final season of his current contract, which is set to run out at the end of June 2024, as they are wary of the prospect of losing another top defender on a free transfer after Milan Skriniar.

Ultimately, the Nerazzurri’s priority is clear and the club will do all that they can to keep hold of Bastoni, and a lot of the outcome of talks will come down to the player’s stance.

According to the Corriere, Bastoni is very keen to stay, and there is no doubt in his stance.

As such, it looks as though Inter will be able to secure the 23-year-old’s future with a new contract.

Bastoni joined Inter in the summer of 2017 from Atalanta, going on to spend a season back on loan with La Dea and then Parma before making his debut for the Nerazzurri under Antonio Conte in the 2019-20 season.
