Inter strikers Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are set to be the starting pair in attack in Saturday evening’s Serie A match against Fiorentina.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that both of the duo will start the match, with Joaquin Correa possibly appearing from the bench.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have to make his selections in attack based on the fitness of players, as whilst all four main forwards are likely to be available to be called up, there will be some match fitness concerns after the international break.

According to Sky, Edin Dzeko is set to be rested after the 37-year-old picked up a minor back injury whist on international duty with Bosnia and Herzgovina.

The former Roma and Manchester City man did make an appearance off the bench in the Bosnians’ second EURO 2024 qualifier of the international break, against Slovakia, but was not used in their opener against Iceland.

Meanwhile, Martinez returned from international duty with Argentina today, whilst Lukaku has been back for a couple days following the international break with Belgium in which the 29-year-old scored four goals in two matches.

Correa has been staying back in Milan training and working to get fit for the upcoming matches.

In any event, Sky report that with Dzeko not likely to be used in order to give the Bosnian a rest, it will be Martinez and Lukaku who start in attack for the Nerazzurri on Saturday.

As for Correa, the 29-year-old former Lazio and Sevilla man is likely to appear from the bench.

Whilst Lukaku and Martinez had been the first-choice strike partnership in Lukaku’s first two seasons at Inter, they have not really gotten a run of matches since the Belgian’s return last summer.

Lukaku’s fitness and injury problems have been the main reason, although now the 29-year-old is fully fit and available.
