Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni and striker Edin Dzeko are both set to be benched in tomorrow evening’s Champions League clash with Fiorentina.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the pair will be fit enough for the bench against La Viola but that neither will be in the starting eleven.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will be thinking long and hard about his selection decisions for tomorrow evening’s match, with the fitness of a number of players in doubt, even those who are available for selection.

There is little doubt that Bastoni and Dzeko will both be called up against Fiorentina tomorrow.

However, Sky reports, neither are set to be in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven for the match.

Yesterday it was reported by the Corriere dello Sport that only one out of Bastoni or Robin Gosens would start tomorrow.

The reason for this is that Inzaghi could be wary of starting two players only recently coming back from injury against Fiorentina danger man Jonathan Ikone on the Nerazzurri’s left side.

Gosens looks set to start, as like Bastoni he has returned to training this week, and is the only fit and available left-wingback in the absence of Federico Dimarco.

Accordingly, it looks likely that Bastoni will not be in the starting eleven, with Francesco Acerbi set to start on the left of the back three and Stefan de Vrij in the middle.

Meanwhile, in attack Edin Dzeko is not likely to start the match despite being fit to be in the squad.

Sky reports that it will instead be Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez who lead the line for the Nerazzurri in tomorrow evening’s match.

Dzeko suffered a minor back injury whilst on international duty with the Bosnia and Herzgovina national team during the break, although he is fit.
