Inter defender Stefan de Vrij is keen to get back to winning ways immediately in this evening’s Serie A match against Fiorentina.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match, via FCInterNews, the 31-year-old stressed the importance of taking three points against an in-form La Viola side in order to put the defeat against Juventus behind them straight away.

Inter will have a tough task on their hands this evening against a Fiorentina team who won all seven of their matches prior to the international break.

Vincenzo Italiano’s men may not have faced a side quite at the level of the Nerazzurri during that run, at least on paper, but they have shown that they are a well-organized team with no shortage of technical quality.

In the reverse fixture Inter won 4-3 in a dramatic match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi that was settled in stoppage time by midfielder Henrikh Mikhitaryan, who scored his first ever goal in a Nerazzurri shirt.

Unlike Fiorentina, Inter’s form going into the break was very much up and down.

However, the Nerazzurri will still feel that they have every chance of taking three points as they did in Tuscany, and defender de Vrij is of the view that they certainly can.

“This is an important match for us, we want to bounce back and get back to winning ways immediately,” the Dutchman said.

“Fiorentina are in very good, they’ve gotten a lot of positive results lately, it won’t be an easy match but we’re confident and fired up.”

He continued that “We want to take three points at home.”

Of the team’s attitude heading into a packed April fixture list, the 31-year-old noted that “As I said before, we’re here with an intense desire to bounce back and start winning again, starting with this evening’s match.”

And of what the Nerazzurri get from playing in front of their fans at the San Siro, de Vrij said that “They’re very important for us, their support gives us a lot and we’re always happy to have them with us here.”
