Inter would only sack Simone Inzaghi as coach in the event that they feel that his staying will jeopardize qualification for top four in the Serie A table.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 46-year-old is likely to have until at least the league fixture against Monza to keep his job.

Whilst Inter’s truly horrendous run of form in the league, which has seen them lose four out of their last five matches, has put their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League in doubt, they are hardly out of the race.

A couple of wins would be enough to at least keep themselves afloat, whilst they can also cross their fingers that rivals like Lazio, AC Milan, and Roma will slip up.

Anything other than three points against Salernitana later this week could change the situation, however.

Then, the Nerazzurri’s following league match will be at home against Monza, a team who had deservedly taken points off of them in the reverse fixture.

Should Inzaghi at least get the team back on track enough to take six points from those two matches in convincing fashion, then it is unlikely that the former Lazio boss will be given the sack right away, Tuttosport reports.

However, if things get any worse in what has already been something of a nightmare league campaign, it is hard to see Inzaghi hanging on past the match against Monza.

Interspersed with these league fixtures will be the first legs of two hugely important knockout ties, as well.

If Inter are to find themselves badly behind in their Coppa Italia semifinal tie against Juventus, or the Champions League quarterfinal tie against Benfica, this could certainly weigh against Inzaghi.

However, parting ways with the coach before the end of the season is not a decision that the Nerazzurri would take lightly.
