Legendary former Inter President Massimo Moratti feels that at the moment, Simone Inzaghi is facing serious issues in his tenure as Nerazzurri coach.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInterNews, the former President gave his thoughts on the current Nerazzurri boss’s difficult period, whilst he also spoke about Antonio Conte, who he branded a “winner.”

Whilst Inzaghi is not out the door yet at Inter, there is no question that the tension has ratcheted up to an almost unbearable level after three consecutive losses in Serie A.

Reports have suggested that the 46-year-old former Lazio coach could be sacked in just over a week if results don’t dramatically improve, whilst a return for Conte has been persistently linked, particularly since his departure from Tottenham Hotspur.

For his part, Moratti has cautioned against allowing this bad moment of form to turn into a “shock” for the team which would derail the season altogether, but the former President admits that Conte would bring something different.

“There’s no question that Inzaghi is having big problems, he’s the coach and he has to be the one to take responsibility for the team,” the former President said.

“Unfortunately the results haven’t been vindicating his work, the thing that really bothered me about the match against Fiorentina apart from the result was that there was a lack of grit from the team.”

“It looked like they were just playing in a nice little friendly match, they didn’t look like they were trying to win at all costs.”

Moratti observed that “It’s important that Inter get the points they need to qualify for the Champions League next season, that’s the decisive objective.”

And when asked whether or not he’d like to see Antonio Conte brought in, Moratti replied “I don’t know about as a caretaker, but Conte’s proven he’s a great coach.”

“With Conte, you are guaranteed a winner,” he added.
