The entourage of Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni have made clear that the player has never demanded €7 million net per season in terms of wages in contract extension talks with the Nerazzurri.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 23-year-old has made very clear his intention to stay, and that an agreement on a new deal could be found at around €5 million net per season plus add-ons.

Inter have no intention of letting Bastoni go into the final season of a contract which, as things stand, is set to run out at the end of June 2024, and risk heading into the same kind of situation as has happened with Milan Skriniar.

Accordingly, contract extension negotiations with the former Atalanta and Parma defender are a priority.

If Bastoni does not pen a new deal in a timely fashion, it has been reported that the Nerazzurri would not hesitate to sell him in the summer to ensure that they receive a fee rather than losing him on a free transfer like Skriniar.

It has, however, been reported that talks with the defender and his entourage are moving along, with the parties inching towards an agreement on a new deal.

The sticking point that still needs to be overcome, however, concerns the wages that the player is to earn on an extension.

There have been rumours that the 23-year-old could be expecting a big pay raise, even as high as €7 million net per season.

However, according to Tuttosport this is not actually the case.

The newspaper reports that Bastoni’s entourage have made a point of clarifying that this is not what the player is asking for.

Instead, it is likely that the Nerazzurri will find an agreement with Bastoni on a new deal worth in the region of €5 million net per season plus add-ons.
