Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will need nothing less than a “miracle” to stay on at the Nerazzurri past the end of the current season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 46-year-old is teetering over the edge after the team lost their tenth match of the Serie A against Fiorentina over the weekend.

Whilst rumours about Inzaghi’s future have never been too far away throughout the current season, they have never been louder or more persistent than they have been over the past few weeks.

Three losses in a row in the league, and four in the last five matches, have taken the total of Serie A defeats for the Nerazzurri to ten in total after just 28 matches played.

Regardless of the more positive campaigns that Inter have been having in the Champions League and the Coppa Italia, this is deemed to be unacceptable.

What looks certain is that Inter won’t sack their coach with immediate effect.

The former Lazio boss should at least be given a few more matches at the helm in which to try and reverse course.

What can’t be ruled out, however, would be Inzaghi being shown the exit door if the results continue to be poor up to next week’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Benfica.

In any event, Tuttosport report, even if Inzaghi manages to survive until the end of the season, he is not likely to stay on much longer than that.

Inter are thinking about the future, the newspaper reports, and inclined towards changing coaches given the constant disappointments that the team have endured this season.

There are no shortage of names on the list of coaches who could be in charge of Inter next season.

However, Tuttosport report that “only a miracle” would see Inzaghi’s among them.
