Former Inter CEO Ernesto Paolillo feels that the Inter squad no longer believe in Simone Inzaghi as coach.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri CEO gave the view that it seems as though the 46-year-old has lost the faith and trust of the Nerazzurri dressing room.

Inter coach Inzaghi’s future has been cast in major doubt as a result of the poor recent run of form on the pitch from the team.

However, more could go into the club’s ultimate decision regarding whether or not to go on with the former Lazio boss than whether or not the results are good.

A key factor could be how the squad are reacting to the coach, particularly amid a difficult spell in the season.

From the perspective of former CEO Paolillo, there are big doubts in this respect, as he feels that there is no longer an obvious sense of belief from the players in Inzaghi as coach.

Of the future of Inzaghi, Paolillo said that “I’m always of the opinion that the deadwood needs to be cut adrift.”

“The team needs some kind of a spark,” he continued.

“We won’t get anywhere without a spark, but there won’t be a spark at least until tonight,” he said referring to the Coppa Italia match against Juventus this evening.

“Let’s see how it goes against Juventus,” he added, “if what I fear is going to happen happens, it will become necessary to take action.”

Paolillo gave the view that “Right now it looks like there’s a bit of a lack of organization, the way that the team plays has become very monotonous.”

“When the opponents have memorized exactly how you can hurt them, then stopping you from doing so becomes very easy.”

“Allegri figured out how to man-mark Brozovic, and that cut the supply lines to the flanks,” he added.

“Fiorentina did exactly the same, and then the team didn’t look like they had a plan B.”

“It’s a coaching problem, and I wonder how many of the players still believe in the coach,” Paolillo argued.
