Both of Inter and AC Milan are keen to sign Empoli midfielder Tommaso Baldanzi during the summer transfer window.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 20-year-old is on the radar of both of the Milan clubs, and that he would cost around €15 million to sign.
Baldanzi has emerged as a regular in the Empoli starting eleven this season under Paolo Zanetti after having had a bit-part role under Aurelio Andreazzoli last time around.
The young attacking midfielder has won plaudits for his ability to link midfield and attack, his technical ability in tight spaces, and the timing of his attacking runs.
Inter certainly got a taste of this as it was the young midfielder Baldanzi who scored the only goal of the match in a shock 1-0 win for the Tuscans at the San Siro in January, a match which saw Nerazzurri defender Milan Skriniar sent off.
The Nerazzurri are certainly keen on signing Baldanzi, but they would face the competition of their city rivals the Rossoneri to do so.
According to Tuttosport, Baldanzi is very much on the radar of both, and for Milan would represent a more cost-effective alternative to moving for former Roma and current Galatasaray midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo in the same position.
Baldanzi has made a total of eighteen appearances for Empoli this season, scoring four goals in the process, whilst he has also made one appearance for the Tuscans in the league.
The 20-year-old has been capped for the Italian national team at four youth team levels, having made his debut for the Azzurri’s Under-21 side during the recent international break, although he has yet to be called up to the senior national team.
As of now, the asking price for Baldanzi would be around €15 million, although this could rise if he continues to perform at the level he has been doing.
