Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi could be hoping that a match against Juventus is the April turnaround for his team this season, just as was the case last season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who suggest that the coach could be aiming for the Nerazzurri’s 1-1 draw with the Bianconeri on Tuesday to have a similar effect of galvanizing the Nerazzurri heading into the run-in.

Last season, Inter’s second league meeting with Juventus came at the start of April, with the Nerazzurri facing the Bianconeri at the Allianz Stadium in Serie A upon their return from the international break on April 3.

Going into that match, the Nerazzurri had to chase away the demons of a terrible run of form through the months of February and March.

The scoreline of a 1-0 win for Inter hardly told the whole story of that match, as it was a backs-to-the-wall defensive performance in a match which saw the Bianconeri look like the more aggressive, proactive, and fluid side for virtually the whole ninety minutes.

However, it was a result that proved to be vital for Inzaghi and his team, as it got them back on track following their awful run in the weeks prior.

Whilst the Nerazzurri did not win the Serie A title down the stretch, they did manage to push AC Milan to the final day of the season, whilst they also beat the Bianconeri in the final of the Coppa Italia.

This time around, Inter are fighting to make sure they finish in the top four of the Serie A table, whilst they will also be hoping to move on in both the Coppa Italia and the latter stages of the Champions League.

Considering the sequence of three straight losses in Serie A heading into Tuesday’s match against Juventus, Inter certainly needed something to spark a turnaround with the most important part of the season now upon them.

In the view of Tuttosport, Tuesday’s match could serve a similar function to the league win over the Bianconeri last April.

Like that match, it was far from perfect from the Nerazzurri, but a late 1-1 draw and a statement performance could be just the thing needed to turn things around over the rest of April and beyond.
