Defender Stefan de Vrij, wingbacks Denzel Dumfries and Robin Gosens, and striker Lautaro Martinez are all expected to start for Inter in this evening’s Serie A match against Juventus.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that Simone Inzaghi is set to make four changes compared to the starting eleven that faced Juventus in the Coppa Italia earlier this week.
Inter only played Juventus three days ago, but they’ll have had little time to regroup from the scandal-ridden match at the Allianz Stadium before their next commitment in the most packed portion of their fixture list.
The Nerazzurri travel to Salerno to face Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi, in a match that is absolutely must-win given that they have lost their previous three matches in the league.
Whilst the performance in Tuesday’s draw with the Bianconeri suggests one or two signs of recovery, there is still a lot more needed from the Nerazzurri at this crucial stage of their season.
According to Mediaset, there will be four changes made to the lineup from Tuesday.
In defender, the broadcaster anticipate that Stefan de Vrij will replace Francesco Acerbi at the heart of Inter’s back three.
Dropping into the backline from the wingback position will be Matteo Darmian, playing on the right side of de Vrij, with Danilo D’Ambrosio suspended for this evening’s match and Milan Skriniar.
Playing at right-wingback, therefore, will be Denzel Dumfries, whilst on the left flank opposite the former PSV man it will be Robin Gosens.
In attack, Mediaset predict that Lautaro Martinez will keep his starting place from Tuesday’s Coppa Italia match against Juventus.
Playing alongside the Argentine will be Romelu Lukaku, who came off the bench against the Bianconeri, whilst Joaquin Correa drops to the bench compared to last Saturday’s Serie A match against Fiorentina.
