Legendary Porto coach Sergio Conceicao is on Inter Milan’s shortlist to replace Simone Inzaghi next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri directors believe Conceicao ticks every box.

According to the report, Inter’s directors consider Conceicao, who is described as an institution at Porto, as an ambitious, well-prepared, young coach who already has amassed a lot of international experience.

Furthermore, the Milan club’s directors feel that Conceicao is a company man in the sense that he commits fully to the sporting project and in return asks for complete faith in him.

Tactically, he prefers a 4-2-3-1 but Inter directors believe in Conceicao’s great ability to adapt to the squad available to him.

The report notes that it wont be easy to lure him away from Porto given he still has one year left on his contract which is set to expire in June 2024.

Also, Conceicao has a release clause with Porto, which Inter will struggle to pay, although the report makes no mention of how high that release clause actually is.

However, it is no secret that Conceicao has a desire to coach in Italy and the Serie A one day and this desire could be decisive in luring him over.

As a player, Conceicao spent two season at Inter, joining the club in the summer of 2001 from Parma, featuring 65 games across all competitions scoring just two goals before re-joining Lazio in the summer of 2003.

De Zerbi, Thiago Motta And Antonio Conte

The report also states that Conceicao isn’t the only candidate currently being considered for the Inter hotseat by the Nerazzurri.

As widely reported in Italy in recent weeks, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, Bologna coach Thiago Motta as well as former coach Antonio Conte are ll being considered by the Nerazzurri to replace Simone Inzaghi next season.
