Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is set to be benched in tomorrow evening’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg match against Benfica.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Belgian will not start the match, whilst Edin Dzeko will start in attack alongside Lautaro Martinez and Marcelo Brozovic will play from the first minute in midifield.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has barely over 24 hours in which to make his selection decisions for tomorrow evening’s match.

According to Sky, the 47-year-old’s mind is all but made up regarding who will play from the first whistle.

The coach’s major lineup doubt has concerned the attack, where Lautaro Martinez is certain to start, but there has been a somewhat open decision to make between starting Lukaku or Dzeko alongside the Argentine.

According to Sky, the coach is set to go with the Bosnian from the first whistle, with the Belgian potentially an option as a substitute at some point later during the match.

Meanwhile, in midfielder it will be Brozovic who starts, forming a trio alongside Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Kristjan Asllani had started in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A match against Salernitana on Friday, where the 21-year-old Albanian international gave a good account of himself.

However, according to Sky, there is little question that Inzaghi will go with experience by turning to Brozovic in the starting eleven, whilst Hakan Calhanoglu is still injured and will be unavailable for tomorrow evening’s match.

Meanwhile, Sky reports, Matteo Darmian will start on the right of the back three, with Milan Skriniar also injured.

At wingback, Denzel Dumfries will be the one to start on the right given that Darmian will be playing in defense, whilst on the left flank Federico Dimarco is set to start.

In goal, Andre Onana is set to start, with captain Samir Handanovic on the bench.
