Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana is expecting that the Nerazzurri’s team spirit can be a vital aspect of this evening’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Benfica.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match at the Estadio da Luz, via FCInterNews, the 27-year-old stressed that he and his teammates feel totally ready for the challenge that they are about to face.

Inter are now just moments away from one of the most significant matches of their season.

The tie will not be decided over ninety minutes this evening, but it is a chance for the Nerazzurri to at least put one foot in the semifinals, or conversely, to give themselves a mountain to climb in the second leg.

For his part, goalkeeper Onana does not feel that there is any lack of preparedness on the team’s part.

The Cameroonian believes that Inter are fully prepared to meet the challenge head on, and for him their team spirit is a big part of the reason why.

“We have to hope for a great match,” he said.

“We’ve worked to make ourselves prepared for moments like these,” he continued.

Asked if there is any nervous tension ahead the match against Benfica, Onana said that “As always, the tension is always high when you play for Inter, but we’re used to it.”

“We can’t wait to play,” the goalkeeper added.

And when asked how he and his teammates can cause the Portuguese side problems, Onana replied that “We’ll need team spirit like we showed against Porto and Barcelona, that’s what will make the difference.”

He continued that “We’ve already shown that we’re a team who give our best, I’m calm.”

“This evening we’re playing in a tough stadium to play in, it won’t be easy but we’re prepared for it,” the Nerazzurri keeper added.
