Inter will earn a minimum of €82.14 million for their participation in this season’s edition of the Champions League if they are to advance past Benfica to the semifinals of the competition.
This according to Italian football finance news outlet Calcio e Finanza, who report that this the minimum amount that the Nerazzurri will earn from their participation in Europe’s top club competition if they reach the next round, and that it could rise if the Serie A market pool is to increase.
So far, Inter’s earnings from Champions League participation have included €15.64 in the form of a participation bonus, €15.93 million based on historical ranking, and €6 million for the first part of the Serie A market pool.
Then, there are €10 million for the group stage matches, €9.6 million for participation in the round of sixteen, and €10.6 million for participation in the quarterfinal stage.
The Nerazzurri are also set to earn at the very minimum another €5.85 million for the remaining portion of the Serie A market pool, and amount which could rise further depending on how the rest of the tournament goes with which teams reach the semifinals and final.
Participation in the semifinal stage of the competition would be worth a total of €12.5 million in terms of prize money.
Calcio e Finanza also note the fact that, deducted from the Nerazzurri’s total in any event would be a €4 million penalty for violations of Financial Fair Play rules.
All of this in total would mean that Inter would be guaranteed earnings of a minimum of €82.14 million if they are to reach the semifinal stage by beating Benfica in the two-legged quarterfinal tie starting with this evening’s first leg match at the Estadio da Luz.
Meanwhile, the potential earnings from gate receipts for knockout round matches played at the San Siro are not included in this total.
