Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana is proud of the Nerazzurri’s performance in yesterday evening’s 2-0 Champions League quarterfinal first leg win against Benfica at the Estadio da Luz.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the 27-year-old emphasized the view that the Nerazzurri proved who they really are with their performance and the massive result.

Recent dropped points in Serie A have led to a lot of doubts emerging around the Nerazzurri’s ability to see out the season in a consistent manner.

However, as has so often been the case this season, Inter have reacted to setbacks with a statement performance and result.

As was the case with wins against Barcelona and Porto, the Nerazzurri have found the Champions League to be the perfect setting in which to really assert themselves and give a demonstration of what they’re capable of.

The job is certainly not done in their quarterfinal tie against Portuguese high-flyers Benfica.

The Lisbon-based team will travel to the San Siro next week ready to throw everything at the Nerazzurri.

However, for his part Inter keeper Onana feels that the Nerazzurri have proven just how much quality they have, and got a win that is fully reflective of their quality and of the balance of play at the da Luz.

“It’s a deserved result,” the Cameroonian commented after the match, “I’m very happy with the way the team worked and the sacrifice from the group.”

“We worked hard for it,” he added.

“As I always say, we are Inter,” Onana stressed.

“We were playing against a strong side, we always have to be prepared,” he said, “tonight we played a great match.”

“This is a match that gives us confidence, playing for Inter isn’t easy and you always have to look forward.”

The Cameroonian also noted that “We’re going forward with confidence into the next match as well, we worked well in training during the week.”
