Former Genoa and AC Milan goalkeeper Simone Braglia feels that Inter-linked Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has the potential to be even better than Paris Saint-Germain and former Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarruma.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, via FCInter1908, Braglia stated that 26-year-old Vicario is ready to join a top club, naming the Nerazzurri in particular.

Vicario has won no shortage of praise for his performances for Empoli since the Tuscans came up to Serie A last season.

This has led him the be linked with several big clubs, with Inter having reportedly already made contact with Vicario‘s representatives, seeing him as an ideal replacement if Andre Onana were to be sold amid Chelsea and Manchester United interest.

Were the 26-year-old to join Inter, there would be some questions about whether or not he would naturally make the step up to playing at the highest level, having so far only proven himself at a midtable club.

For his part, however, former keeper Braglia has no doubts, and even feels that Vicario is a better player that PSG and former Rossoneri man Donnarumma, who was named as the best player at the 2020 Euros for his starring role helping Italy to win the tournament.

Of Vicario, Braglia said that “Consistency is his best feature.”

“He’s a mature goalkeeper,” he said of the 26-year-old, “he’s worked his way up and it’s been a just been continuous improvements throughout.”

“He deserves to join a top team based on the quality of the performances he’s had, and the technical characteristics that he has,” Braglia argued. “his coolness for example.”

“He’s very good at coming off his line.”

Of Vicario, Braglia confidently stated that “He’s one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A, maybe even better than Donnarumma.”

As for where he could see Vicario being at his best, Braglia replied “At a big club, perhaps Inter.”
