Inter have asked Barcelona about the availability of Barcelona defenders Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen during a recent meeting with the La Liga giants.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, who report that the pair were among those who Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero Ausilio brought up in a meeting with his Barcelona counterpart Mateu Alemany yesterday.

Inter and Barcelona appear to be serious about the possibility of trying to do business on the transfer market this summer.

The two clubs have been reported to have held several meetings since the January transfer window, when there were widespread reports that they had been discussions regarding a possible player exchange between Marcelo Brozovic and Franck Kessie.

Whilst that deal does not look to be nearly as probable, the two clubs are still weighing up possible player moves, with Ausilio and Alemany having held yet another meeting.

Both of Alonso and Christensen have been targets for Inter in the past, and both of the pair made the move to the Camp Nou during last summer transfer window.

Alonso has been persistently linked as a possible solution at left-wingback, having proven to be very adept in a position that has been a feature of the Nerazzurri’s play under both Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi whilst playing for both Fiorentina and Chelsea.

Since joining the Blaugranas, however, the 32-year-old Spanish international has been used in a more defensive role, either at fullback in a back four or even at centre-back.

Meanwhile, Christensen is another player who has been on the Nerazzurri’s radar for some time.

The 27-year-old Danish international joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Chelsea last summer.

However, he could well be on his way, and Inter will certainly be looking for at least one defender this summer given that Milan Skriniar is set to leave.
