Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie does not look to be very likely to make a move to join Inter during the summer transfer window.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, who report that the 26-year-old Ivorian international’s name did come up in a recent round of talks between the two clubs, but that at present it looks very much probable that he will stay at Barcelona past the end of the season.

Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio held a meeting with his Barcelona counterpart Mateu Alemany yesterday evening.

According to Sky, a number of players came up during the discussions between the two executives.

One of these was Kessie, who has been persistently been linked with the Nerazzurri over the years, particularly in view of a potential swap deal involving Marcelo Brozovic which has been rumoured to be in discussion since the January transfer window.

However, when these rumours began to emerge, the former AC Milan and Atalanta midfielder had been very much out of favour at the Camp Nou.

In the ensuing months, Kessie has started to find playing time much easier to come by at Barcelona, particularly given the number of injuries that have been affecting the Catalan side in midfield.

The Ivorian has had an important role to play in Barcelona’s charge at the top of the La Liga, and in so doing he has really begun to win the trust of his coach Xavi.

As a result, Sky reports, it is now not looking overly likely that Kessie would leave the Blaugranas during the summer transfer window, just one year after his arrival on a free transfer from the Rossoneri.

It is less clear how this situation would affect the Nerazzurri and the Blaugranas’ discussions regarding other players, as they are reportedly considering possible swap deals.
